The legendary city of Angkor

by oyo | July 18th, 2011

Hi folks. Here are 2 first sketches straight from the cambodian jungles. Sketching there was nothing less than epic. Not only because of the setting itself which just blows your mind at every corner but also thanks to the terrible heat and humidity, the dozens of insects crawling on you, the short burst of rain taking you by surprise, the curious monkeys passing by trying to steal your stuff, all the langage of Babel spoken around you by tourists , the local kids playing around with their rusty squeaky bikes… Best sketchin experience ever.oyo_angkor02w

Roemer

by timothy powers | July 13th, 2011

been a spell. i’ve been showing in provincetown and locally here in maine for the summer, and have been wholly unprepared for all the ins and outs of everything. but it’s been a blast! here are a few things from one of the openings in Provincetown about a month ago ~ un/fortunately alot of the work went before i could get any photos of it: the gallery is going for a more of a merchandising, take it as you buy it slant. which, despite the constant stress, has been AWESOME. all the frames i make from old floor trim and moldings. saves money and has a nice little weathered element to it!

visit my website or blog fer more. WWW.SIRTIMMY.COM // BRIEFBITS.TUMBLR.COM

some of these guys are super glossy and needed long exposure photos, so the tone may be a little subdued ~ especially the cowering figure! there’s alot of blue missin :(

Roemer made the first measurements of light, not a misspelling. i’ve been obsessed with the concept recently…..flitter-redflitt-detail-smburnt-plate-regburnt-plate-detail-smpaganwiccanskullquiver

First post (yeah, finally)

by Raf Sarmento | July 11th, 2011

Hello there dear Gorillas!

Finally I took a moment to make my first official post here on the blog. You all know how much I love you, and it’s really a HUGE pleasure and honor to be a part of the gang! After all, being one of the apes is more than a pleasure - it’s a way of living. So, here we go to start this mess up!

Well, in fact I don’t have a big deal to share right now, but I’ll show you a few recent studies (only a few, as I’m just starting this new sketchbook - and it’s a wonderfull one) and a sneak of my current oil painting. Soon I’ll post some other stuff!

Hope you’re all well, until lateeeeeeeer

Digital Dust

by Sergio Lopez | July 11th, 2011

12×18 Gouache on Watercolor Paper.

I did this piece as a live painting event called Gallery Wednesdays here in Santa Rosa. It’s fun to paint under pressure sometimes….

I’m trying this out, selling the original through Saatchi. If you decide to buy it, let me know how your experience dealing with the site turns out. It’s brand new to me so it will help me out.
