Those are great! You should consider selling them as prints, they’d reproduce wonderfully.
awesome man the face on the first one is great :)
I love your style, its very sophisticated. :)
Awesome as always Francis! How did you get that distressed effect in the first one (ie the pants)? I’ver read something about wax in your blog, could you explain the process a bit?
Cheers!
Excellent work! The first one blows me away man
I love your work so much! The first one is truly awesome. The hands are great!
*praise*
Thanks guys!! I appreciate the encouragement!
fedezz: Well I put the ink lines down first. Then I dry brushed the blue tone in oil and let that get to being almost 90% dry. Then I used a toothbrush dipped in burnt sienna and scrubbed the pants. That gave a neat look and toned the white of the board with a warm color as well. I used the wax for the cream color around the character. It’s cool for making the faint box around the head. I had did that in my first layer of wax. It’s so thick, that after that first layer dries, anything I put over it is still going to conform to the shapes I created initially. I know that’s kind of a convoluted explanation but hopefully that makes sense! I started using wax after studying briefly with Mark English. He is the master of wax and tar. He pretty much paints out of the hardware store. It’s awesome!
thanks again!

Whoa… Just amazing!
Really great stuff Francis!!! Dopeness all aroun’
Thanks a lot Francis, that was pretty helpful indeed, I’m always down for that sort of wacky mixed media techniques :D
And Mark English work and approach IS awesome! Also, I always wanted to give tar a try after reading George Pratt’s blog, he gets all sorts of awesome results with that stuff. Thanks again and keep rocking!
duddddddddddddddddddde.:) holy shite.. love ur work!
The musician piece is devastatingly awesome! The fine rendering of the head against the crisp stylishness of the accordian is brilliant, kudos!
