It’s in my head.

by redehlert | February 25th, 2010

Man, the work you gorillaz are doin’ is awesome. Wish I was doin’ more studies, personally. Sigh.

At any rate, this is some finished professional work.
This is part two of a series on minimally invasive brain hemorrhage (blood clot) repair…this one is for a hemorrhage within the ventricular system of the brain.
It’s hb pencil on marker paper plus Photoshop and a smidge of Illustrator (for the neuro-navi lines in blue).
Created as a series to promote this surgical device. Each element was done at roughly 5 x 8 inches at 300 dpi and then prepped into this single layout for PPT.
I didn’t bic my head…still have hair. ;)

Been a while. Sorry guys. Head is up me bumsky, I guess.

You guys all rock it in so many ways and continue to awe and inspire me. My posts are humble by comparison and are all work-related. I am taking a matte painting class at CGSociety right now…hopefully have some stuff to show in a few weeks.
Cheers!

Rodin’s Thinker has a brain

by redehlert | January 29th, 2009

Been out of the scene a bit…work just slammin’ me hard. But I do miss the sheer awesomeness of you talented Gorillas! Since many months have gone by, I won’t bore you with the work that’s been done, but many medical legal cases have been completed, a patent has been drawn up on a product and the inventor team (which I’m a part of) is working with a slick ID team in Seattle to flush it out. I also had my first art show with a group of Pacific Northwest artists on the theme of art through math and science. I have 6 pieces in the show that will run until Feb. 6.
Blog link to show

Yesterday I wrapped up a fun project to grace the cover of Quest magazine, a publication by the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Institute. Topic is healing the body through the mind. The AD wanted to use Rodin’s Thinker as the topic. Work was a combination of traditional drawing, Painter, Photoshop and Illustrator.

Highlight on recent work

by redehlert | December 17th, 2008

Hey all! Been a while, but it’s wonderful to see all the awesome work goin’ on here!
I haven’t been pickin’ up the pencil or stylus too much lately as the projects have been taking me in several directions from concept to inventions.
I do want to share a recent Cognition Studio Press post highlighting some of our recent work. Sample images follow the write up at the bottom of the post.

Cheers and happy holidays!

005 is my fifth Oxidizer build that was heavily modified in Photoshop with custom brushes and layout touches. I went with fiery autumnal hues. Hope you enjoy!

Preemie Illustrations

by redehlert | October 29th, 2008

Hey All,

Working on some preemie illustrations (taking a bit of time due to work load). Two more will be coming. These are being created at UW Creative.

For now, here’s a baby scale (done in Illustrator); breast shield for breast feeding a preemie; and mom with baby in a kangaroo hold. The last two were traditional ink (Staedtler pigment liner) on vidalon vellum, scanned and cleaned up in Pshop.

Cheers!

004

004 is…erm….my fourth attempt with Oxidizer (a flame fractal builder for Macs). Of course, this has been reconstituted and pulsed in Pshop, but you get the idea. It’s a desktop pattern, so enjoy! This image, when seen at full size, is 1680×1050px.

Cheers!

Wired. Gallery: More Mind-Bending Sci-Fi Spaceships

by redehlert | October 26th, 2008

Check this Wired story out! The story is a few weeks old, as I’m a little slow with reading my RSS feeds upon return from Create Chaos in Orlando, but perhaps you haven’t read or seen this yet.

Anyone know these artists?
Just cool seein’ concept art in Wired. :)

Cheers!
Dave
