Hi everybody, long time no post! Just checked out the phenomenal work I’ve missed the last several weeks… man this board stays busy!
Just finished this one for a speedpainting tutorial on 2DArtist Magazine. Click on the image for a higher res version. You can also download the tutorial here.
Good to be back! - J

This was an image I started last year which I never got around to finishing until this week. Mostly just having fun with compositing techniques, created using a Zbrush to Photoshop workflow. About 6 hours total.

This is another figure study done in pastels which was later brought into Photoshop for a little abuse and experimentation. Not sure where I was going with this.
I’ve been experimenting with a ZBrush, After Effects, and Photoshop work flow for a while now and this is a direct result of that. The image reminds a little of those old psychedelic posters and album covers from the 70’s, hence the goofy image title. All in all, the image took about 9 hours to complete.

This is a small project I recently worked on as I played with a ZBrush/After Effects/Photoshop work flow. The model is actually a base human Poser model brought into Zbrush where I went ape shit with the alpha brushes. A depth map was exported to After Effects for lighting and rendering. Additional post comp work done in Photoshop. About 4.5 hours total.

This is a set of 15 female portrait studies I recently completed. They were done fairly quick, usually no more than 5 minutes a piece, and were referenced from a collection of John Singer Sargent portraits:
