Bad Unkl Sista is an experience. They’re a mashup of Butoh without the depression and couture without the haughty.  However you try to classify them - what they are is art, imagination and drama. Oh and humor, sex and silliness. And they put on a hell of a drawing event. Here’s some sketches from last night’s Metamorphica:

Seems like it’s been ages since I just drew for fun! Despite a crazy schedule we made time the other night just to hang out and do some doodling. As usual when I don’t have a specific subject - I’m drawing Oracles. Headdresses, Kimonos, all that fun stuff :)

Hey - just wanted to show you guys my first sculpt! I took a little workshop here at the office - they showed us how to make a wire armature, and provided us with some fancy grown up playdo. We worked from a live model (9 hours session)  - but I have to admit it doesn’t look much like him.  I had a blast doing this guy - I didn’t know it was so much fun - I’ll be trying out more of this for sure!

So, some  sketchbook pages from the ArtUndressed show last weekend… So much to draw - kept me scribbling till midnight two nights in a row! These are ‘live’ drawings - nobody is willing to stand still just for my convenience :) There’s a lot of furtive drawing from the corner of the room and desparate watercoloring while people dance off to the after party!

…piece I’m working on for a group show with an erotic art theme. Probably the largest thing I’ve painted since art school (30×40, oil on canvas) - wanted to approach it in the same way I might to any size work - just bigger brushes, same kind of paint handling :)

and one from the top of Mount Tam. This one is became a bit abstract. You’re looking down at Tiburon and SF from 2500 ft…

I think this orgy of sketching might qualify as Dirty Sunday. It was Sunday by the time we finished. There was this one male model in the midst of all these dissolute Edwardian ladies - he had this perfect vacant expression. The sketches over the night make a sad sordid tale of his mind sliding into some sort of opium hallucination…
