Roemer

by timothy powers | July 13th, 2011

been a spell. i’ve been showing in provincetown and locally here in maine for the summer, and have been wholly unprepared for all the ins and outs of everything. but it’s been a blast! here are a few things from one of the openings in Provincetown about a month ago ~ un/fortunately alot of the work went before i could get any photos of it: the gallery is going for a more of a merchandising, take it as you buy it slant. which, despite the constant stress, has been AWESOME. all the frames i make from old floor trim and moldings. saves money and has a nice little weathered element to it!

visit my website or blog fer more. WWW.SIRTIMMY.COM // BRIEFBITS.TUMBLR.COM

some of these guys are super glossy and needed long exposure photos, so the tone may be a little subdued ~ especially the cowering figure! there’s alot of blue missin :(

Roemer made the first measurements of light, not a misspelling. i’ve been obsessed with the concept recently…..flitter-redflitt-detail-smburnt-plate-regburnt-plate-detail-smpaganwiccanskullquiver

new studio

by timothy powers | March 6th, 2011

i finally have a place to paint again. first step: paint a big blank spot of black. then. my horrid process of random lines and trying to pull things out. now that i can see where it can go, i need to do studies so i don’t drive myself crazy.

and here’s another rough first pass over a sketch from today. sorry about the glare. the next couple panels i think i want to approach more in an academic approach. less mush and muting. i’ve been doing a few series of halloween shirts for my company i rather like…hopefully when they go live i’ll be able to show those images here sometime soon.

two posters i did for local portland maine shows. deeeerrrhoooof. gouache and ink. the other is cropped because i hate the top.deerhoofaltedpostersmall i’ve got a just a little hobby show at a local coffeeshop. i say hobby, just because i’m taking the sketches i do for kicks and timepassings and trying to turn them into fragmented oil paintings. i’m just not in oil mood any more though. i want tempera and watercolor. here’s one i started (like 5×7ish”) and a few other sketches i’m transferring to tiny panels.

some invitations i printed onto my pair of crustypunk pants. it was a fun time.

they had some character which i like…but i also realize legibility. so i did some regular as well.

and a quick study for an oil painting. i moved my bed into my studio a few weeks ago. and it’s proved worthwhile.
