Oil landscapes

by cakeypigdog | November 22nd, 2009

Hi everyone. I have been working on this set of paintings over the last month or so. They were going to be for the Nottingham open but after consulting my wife and friends I decided not to put them in.
The paintings are all of parts of my daily commute to work on my cycle. Thus the rather odd choices of subject matter. Although i do have a weird soft spot for concrete bridges!
I really loved making these and feel like I made good improvement from start to finish. They are in chronological order  so I hope you can see the progession as you  look through them.
Well on to the next set of paintings!
They are all little 20 x25 cm gesso primed mdf panels.landscape1_smalllandscape2_smalllandscape3_smalllandscape4_smalllandscape5_smalllandscape6_small

The Psy-Chics

psy-chics_painting1

Hey everyone. This is a piece I have been working on for a while. I took a decent enough photo of it this afternoon and so here it is. Its oil on un-stretched canvas which was a pretty tough brief for me. Its about 12 by 8″. I will get it framed up soon hopefully.
There is some design work for it my blog.
I will be doing more with these characters and developing the style a bit more too. I am currently fleshing out the early stages of a graphic novel based on the Psy-Chics but i have a crazy amount on my plate right now.
The standard on GA has been so high lately that I almost did not post this. Keep rockin guys!

PS the idea for the Psy-chics came from a pub sign i cycled past on the way to work where they were having a psychic night and had hyphenated the word for some unknown reason.

oils

Hey chaps,
Been a long old time since i posted up here.  Been doing lots but nothing i really flet worth sharing.   My wife and I finished our studio in the loft a couple of weeks ago.  I am getting back into real paints slowly but surely.  I went for gesso primed wooden blocks for these 3.  The two little dogs are a birthday present for a friend.  The crow is done from a photo i took in Japan. All 3 images are very small paintings. The white dog is bout 4″ squared and the black one a touch larger. The crow is about 8×6″.
Had a blast with them and feel like i moved forward an inch or two with the crow!
